This Saturday, April 28th from 12pm to 4pm, farm families are invited to attend an interactive farm safety event at Gurteen Agricultural College, Ballingarry in Co. Tipperary.
The interactive event will include farm safety demonstrations on issues such as slurry dangers, livestock management and safe use of quad bikes.
Donal Mullane, Regional Manager of Teagasc Tipperary said:
“Sometimes with health and safety we emphasise the safety and not the health. We hope to cover all angles in this event including mental health, diet, insect diseases and basic first aid.”
Young members of the family will enjoy fun activities and competitions in the Kids Zone, where they’ll also have the chance to meet the animals in Agri Aware’s mobile farm.
Michael Somers of Teagasc and event co-organiser said:
“The age profile of those killed is of serious concern. The old and the young are exceptionally vulnerable to death and injury on Irish farms”.
The event is aimed at bringing children, their parents, and families together to see how they can make farms a safer place.
The event is being organised by IFA, Teagasc, Gurteen College, Agri Aware, Embrace, FRS, ICMSA and An Garda Siochana, and Agri Kids.
