Dairygold, in collaboration with Teagasc, is set to host a farm safety information day at Mallow Racecourse.
In response to the continuing high level of farm accidents and farm fatalities, the two organisations will hold the information day on Friday, May 12; focussing on ‘Making your Farm a Safer Place’.
The event will allow farmers to hear about farming in a safe manner.
There will also be opportunities to observe many of the new innovative and safety-focused equipment available during a series of live demonstrations by Teagasc, the Health & Safety Authority, an Garda Siochana, the Farm Relief Services, Zurich Insurance and the Road Safety Authority.
Speakers will include Alma Jordan, who is the founder of Agrikids, the farm safety educational platform for children. Also, Treasa Moher, who is a Dairygold Milk Quality Award winner and the keynote speaker of the day will be Anna Geary.
Anna is well-known for her hugely successful camogie career and has also taken part in the Rose of Tralee as Cork Rose in 2014. Anna was the winning coach on RTE’s Ireland’s Fittest Family and covers the weekly health and fitness slot for the Today show on RTE One.
Anna is an ambassador for a range of worthy causes, like the Special Olympics, Cycle Against Suicide and Pieta House.
The information day event was launched this week in Moorepark, Co. Cork. Speaking at the launch was Dairygold Chairman James Lynch who commented on the event.
“We encourage everyone connected to farming to come along to the Mallow Racecourse on Friday, May 12. This free event is designed to inform farmers and their families, especially mothers, about farm safety. It will be well worth a visit.”
The event on May 12, will run from 10.30am through to 2.30pm, while the panel discussion on family safety will take place from 11.30am until 1.30pm.
