The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue T.D., today announced the appointment of three new Directors to the Board of the Irish National Stud.
Minister McConalogue appointed Ashling O’Beirne, Barry Lynch and Meta Osborne for five-year terms following a competitive selection process run by the Public Appointments Service.
The Minister congratulated the new Directors, saying, “I am confident that with their background in the thoroughbred breeding industry combined with their professional experience and expertise, they will make a significant contribution to the work of the Irish National Stud over the next five years.”
The Minister also thanked outgoing Directors John Tuite, Seamus Boyle and Mark Weld for their significant contribution to the Board of the Irish National Stud over the last ten years and wished them well for the future.
Aisling O’Beirne is a Board Member and Managing Director with extensive financial and commercial experience across industries. Currently the Group Chief Finance Officer for Accenture’s Industry X business and a member of Accenture’s Global Leadership Council and Finance Management Committee.
Barry Lynch has worked within the international bloodstock industry for the last 10 years and has extensive knowledge of the thoroughbred industry. He currently runs his own consultancy business consulting on major bloodstock transactions and management around the world.
Meta Osborne is a veterinary surgeon with extensive experience in horseracing governance and regulation. She chaired the Irish Thoroughbred Industry Anti-Doping Task Force in 2015, was Senior Steward of the Turf Club from 2016- 2018 and a Turf Club nominee to the board of Horse Racing Ireland from 2013-2023.
